About Dr. Meena Rajiv Chandawarkar

Dr. Meena Rajiv Chandawarkar was born and brought up in Mumbai, India. After completing Masters in Commerce from Mumbai University in 1977, she obtained a Doctorate from Karnatak University, Dharwad, Karnataka for her dissertation on ‘HRD and Productivity’ in 1996.


She commenced her career as a Probationary Officer with Union Bank of India where she worked for seven years. Later, she switched over to the field of Higher Education and served in various capacities like Principal of SRN Arts and MBS Commerce Degree College for 21 years, Director, UGC Academic Staff College, Karnatak University, Dharwad, for four years and then as the Vice Chancellor, Karnataka State Women’s University, Bijapur for four years.


At present, she is the Chief Advisor – Quality Assurance for B V V Sangha, Bagalkot, a leading group of over 153 educational institutions.

She is also the National Joint Secretary of ‘Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Nagpur’ an organization devoted to the objective of national resurgence in the field of education. It aims at evolving a National Education Policy, Curriculum, System and Methodology based on an integral Bharatiya Vision.


Dr Chandawarkar has had an opportunity to serve in crucial capacities on a National and State Level on behalf of the HRD Ministry, Govt. of India, New Delhi, University Grants Commission, New Delhi, Govt. of Karnataka, Dept of Higher Education, Bangalore and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore. Besides, she has completed a major and one minor research project sanctioned by the UGC, New Delhi, has guided scholars for Ph.D and written books related to Quality Circles and HRD. Her participation in over 11 International and 60 National Conferences and research publications in Journals has given her a deep insight in her area of study. Her research experience of twenty years and over three decades of academic experience has moulded her to be an efficient administrator and able, inspiring academician.


Dr Chandawarkar’s potential was displayed in her achievements in the coveted post of the Vice Chancellor. To mention a few, a noticeable increase in student strength leading to women empowerment, focus on research and curriculum upgradation, very impressive increase in infrastructure, Academic and Administrative Audits, First Assessment by NAAC, Bangalore and qualifying to receive grants from the HRD Ministry under RUSA took the university to higher levels.


She has also been actively involved in social outreach activities as a member of many organisations and NGOs, mainly for conducting workshops on Personality Development for the youth. A recipient of over fifteen awards, of which a crucial one was the ‘Best teacher in Commerce’ award given by the Govt. of Karnataka, Dept of Higher Education, Bangalore.
